Residents and business owners in the Reno area can expect to see their clean, shiny vans and friendly, uniformed painters as these two hit the ground running with their residential and commercial painting franchise.
We had a chance to sit down and chat with Elise to find out what made them say WOW! to WOW 1 DAY PAINTING.
Why we chose WOW 1 DAY PAINTING
For many years we had talked about owning our own business. When we started looking into different options, we remembered that we had used another company in the O2E Brands family (1-800-GOT-JUNK?) and had such a wonderful experience. When we found WOW, we knew it was a perfect fit. Taking an ordinary service like painting, and transforming it into an exceptional experience is something we are excited to bring to our community.
Our background prior to WOW
We met at UNLV where Alexis obtained his degree in Finance and Business Management and I obtained my degree in Finance and Economics. Alexis worked his way up in the banking industry and most recently was a Vice President of Private Banking for a major wealth management firm. He has been in the private banking/wealth management industry for the past ten years. I worked briefly in the banking industry and in 2007 we had our first son. Since then, I have been a stay-at-home mom.
Our passions outside of work
We love to explore and show our kids as much of the world as we possibly can! Even if it means trying a new restaurant one weekend or finding a hidden beach at Lake Tahoe the next. We take advantage of every opportunity we get to travel with our family. Our most recent trip to Vancouver was an amazing experience. Exposing our kids to different cultures is important to us.
Community involvement
We volunteer as much time as we can at the schools our children attend and their sports leagues. We are definitely excited to start reaching out to other areas of the community through our business. Teachers, law enforcement, and our military personnel are near and dear to our hearts and our business will allow us the opportunity to reach out even more to these members of our community.
Fun facts about us
Alexis was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska. I grew up in Minden, Nevada which is why we moved back to the area five years ago. We have four kids, Landon (age 8), Jackson (age 4), Benton (age 3), and Gwendolyn (age 1). There is never a dull moment in our home with three boys and a girl. Add two dogs to the mix and it is never a dull moment. Our family always says its like visiting the zoo but we can't imagine it any other way!
Why we love Reno
The summers are hot, and the snow in the winter is always fun. Lake Tahoe is one of our favorite places on Earth and it is just a short drive away. More importantly, it is the people that make this area wonderful. People are kind and generous here and always willing to support each other. Reno is known as "the Biggest Little City in the World" and it truly is just that!
What we look forward to most
The obvious answer is that we get to be our own boss, but for us it means so much more. We love that we have the opportunity to see our kids grow up and really be there for them. Also, we want to grow a company that values its people. The WOW 1 DAY PAINTING Reno team has some amazing talent and we are lucky to have them. It seems that quite often businesses forget to value those who matter and we get a chance to change that for our crew. Plus all of the ideas we have had in our minds for community outreach are finally becoming a reality!
