Do I risk my future in someone else's hands, or do I want to take control?

Meet Michael Tarascio, our Franchise Partner in Fairfield County, CT. A former project manager ready to build something of his own, he decided to take control of his own destiny, with the support and systems of our franchising formula.

What made you want to own your own business?

I'd been thinking about it for a while, but for me this was an opportunity to build something for myself. I've been a project manager for years, but I'd been feeling that it was time to move out on my own. Then I was furloughed, and that was the moment. That was when I really started thinking 'do I want to risk my future being in someone else's hands, or do I want to take control?'. I chose to take control.

Why WOW 1 DAY PAINTING, what was it that drew you to the business?

I heard about the brand through a broker. I'd been looking into franchises for about a year, and this was the first brand that stuck out for me. I liked how upfront they were, how they presented the opportunity, and how they jumped me ahead to sit in on an upcoming discovery day when they realised that I was a good fit. I thought that was great, because I was able to have a lot of questions answered very quickly. I was also really impressed with the senior leadership team, and how they were all equally able to answer all and any questions. You don't see that in many organisations, where senior leadership can explain each other's roles as well as their own.

So, why franchising?

I like the systems. I'm the type of person who needs that - I was a project manager for over 20 years, and that's the way my brain works, it's very systematic. I looked at the way that WOW 1 DAY PAINTING does things, and the systems and techniques they use, and it was clear that this was the right choice.

Obviously it's not possible to travel at the moment, so the entire process is virtual - how did you find that?

In a strange way I think it was actually better this way. Everyone has it in their calendar, prime spot - everyone is in it together. The added expense of going away wasn't there either - it's nice to be able to get so much information without even having to leave your home.

What are you looking forward to most about being a business owner?

I'm looking forward to a sense of pride, when I see the trucks roll out for the first day that's going to be a big moment for me. It's going to be me, making my own way with something that is my own. Those trucks symbolise freedom, and taking control of my own destiny.

Tell us about your territory - what's it like?

It's a great territory - a great mix of residential and commercial, a great community, a great place to work here. I think it'll be great to introduce the community here to WOW 1 DAY PAINTING! That's also part of the reason for owning a franchise - so that I can have more community time, I can get out there, and make connections. I can't wait to get started.

Thanks Michael, and congratulations on your new business!
