'We Were So Impressed That We Decided to Buy a Business': These Customers Turned Franchise Partners Share Their Story
Meet Krissy and James Neuenberger, our Franchise Partners in Aurora, Colorado. Looking for an opportunity that would compliment Krissy's real estate background, they knew they'd wanted the support and systems of a franchise – and found the perfect fit with WOW 1 DAY PAINTING.
Hi Krissy, hi James - so... what made you want to own a business?
Krissy: Well, we both come from entrepreneurial families - our parents were entrepreneurs, so it’s in our blood, really! I’m actually already a business owner, I’m in real estate, and we’re starting a family, so we wanted more flexibility. It just made sense for us to do this.
Krissy: Customer experience! With WOW 1 DAY PAINTING, the customer journey is number one. We’d been looking at franchises for six months, and during that time, WOW painted our house on 3 separate occasions! The last time was when we were selling our house, and we were just so impressed that we decided to buy a business! It’s also a business that is about developing people, and that was hugely important to us. They care about the customers and the painters, they provide such clear processes for owners, it just feels like everyone is looked after.
James: The feeling of having this step by step plan of ‘if you follow these steps you will be successful’, is what drew us to this as a business model. It fits in so well with Krissy’s real estate, too.
What made you choose franchising as an option?
Krissy: Before real estate, I’d worked with franchise businesses all over the country, so I knew that it had to be a franchise - there’s no point in reinventing the wheel!
James: We knew we’d get the support and the systems and the brand awareness. A lot of people haven’t necessarily heard of WOW 1 DAY PAINTING yet, but they have heard of their sister brand, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, so having that credibility and that brand awareness is so great… it’s nice to be able to lean on that.
How have you found the process of becoming Franchise Partners?
James: Well obviously everything has been virtual because of the current world situation, that’s the new way things are going - and we have just embraced that.
Krissy: I’ve been doing real estate virtually as well, so it didn’t feel too strange for this process to be online too. Ultimately we don’t know any different - and from our perspective, it’s been nothing but great.
What are you looking forward to most about being a WOW 1 DAY PAINTING owner?
James: Working with different customers, and blowing their minds that this painting company came in and completely changed their house!
Krissy: James has experience in developing many crews, so it’s also important for us to develop our team, and we’re both really looking forward to that. We want the people that work for us to feel pride, ownership, and that they can come to us and learn about business ownership, financial literacy, whatever they’re interested in. In terms of success, we’re focused on the success of us, and the people we employ, rather than a number.
What are your passions outside of work?
James: I love hockey - playing and watching.
Krissy: I’m not as athletically inclined [laughs]. But we live near family, so that’s a huge part of our lives, spending time with our nieces. We go camping, we walk our dogs, we’re involved in our church too.
And finally, tell us a bit about your territory?
Krissy: I grew up in our territory, so I know it very well! This is my home base, with family and friends so I think we’ll have a big advantage in that respect. We live in the suburbs, so it’s very residential, which is another bonus - it’s all about real estate and interiors.
Congratulations to both of you on your new business, and we can’t wait to watch you grow!
