As a WOW 1 DAY PAINTING Franchise Partner in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jon Barrows knows it's all about Speed + Quality = WOW. In fact, providing that first-class customer experience is what excites him most about the brand and his business. From how he was attracted by the WOW culture of founders, to his illustrious Roller Derby past (!), and his assurance that Kalamazoo is the 'best place in the country' (seriously, you'll want to move there), here's everything you need to know about Jon.

Jon, why did you choose WOW 1 DAY PAINTING?

When we first started looking into WOW 1 DAY PAINTING, I was blown away by how highly everyone spoke about not just the opportunities for success, but the culture of O2E brands and WOW family as a whole. That was always the first thing mentioned; the culture, the people, and how much everyone helps one another to succeed.

What was your background prior to joining WOW 1 DAY PAINTING?

I've worked in sales and franchise management for most of my professional career - I was a franchise consultant for Two Men and a Truck, and I've been managing call centers for over ten years.

What are you looking forward to most about being a WOW 1 DAY PAINTING business owner?

Honestly, I cannot wait to WOW customers - taking what is typically a stressful task, and turning it into a day that they will never forget! I love the idea of giving the customer a beautiful home that they take pride in, and that every day when they see it, they remember the fast, friendly team at WOW 1 DAY PAINTING!

What are your passions outside of work?

I absolutely LOVE the outdoors. Whether it's hiking, or kayaking, or just spending time in the backyard with my kids, if it's outside, I'm all about it.

How are you involved with your community?

My wife and I love taking our kids downtown to see all the shops and to try new foods. We're also very big on buying locally and supporting our local community.

Do you have any role models or key motivators in your life?

I actually have a few role models that keep me motivated and on track. I listen to and watch everything that Gary Vaynerchuk puts out, I think he's a great example of someone who is open, honest and has achieved success through his own hard work. I'm also extremely motivated by Shawn Achor - he's big on taking care of yourself and those around you. Both Gary and Shawn share a mentality that if you do the right thing, good things will naturally happen to you in all situations, and that is something I have always tried to emulate.

What makes Kalamazoo unique?

Well for one, Kalamazoo is pretty much the best place in the country! It's near Lake Michigan, it's home to St. Julian Winery, it is both a major metropolitan area, and offers a rural escape for those interested in wildlife. OK, it didn't land the title of "Beer City USA" (that went to Grand Rapids just 45 minutes North), but we did land runner up... I consider that a big win! Kalamazoo attracts so much art and culture, it is a big city with a small city feel.

Can you share a fun fact about you?

For many years I was a Roller Derby referee! I went on to be a founding member of two different Men's Roller Derby teams; one in Detroit and one in Lansing. I'm technically retired now, but I do still like to skate... albeit in a slightly less aggressive way nowadays.
