Christian Hays spent 25 years with the New Jersey police force, where he worked his way up from patrol officer to captain. Last year, he retired from the force and moved to Charleston with his family to start their next chapter.

With plenty of gas still left in the tank, Christian began exploring new opportunities. When he was introduced to WOW 1 DAY PAINTING, he was immediately drawn to the branding and the unique, one-day promise. As he learned more about the brand, he knew he'd found the perfect fit: a company with the experience, processes and support systems to help him succeed as a small business owner.

Here, Christian shares what he's most excited for in his new journey as an entrepreneur.

Why did you choose WOW 1 DAY PAINTING?

I chose to start a business with WOW 1 DAY PAINTING because of the systems and processes in place, the structure at the Junktion, the culture, and the ability to work with a team to accomplish a common goal. I am excited to build a business that provides a service that puts a smile on our customers' faces.

What was your background prior to joining WOW 1 DAY PAINTING?

I was a police officer for 25 years. When I retired, I was a police captain and I oversaw the entire operations and scheduled all work for the police department.

What are you looking forward to most about being a WOW 1 DAY PAINTING business owner?

I am most looking forward to growing and leading teams, and building a reputation that we are the best at what we do. I am excited to grow the brand and to see the synergistic effect that franchises across all of O2E Brands will have on one another.

What are your passions outside of work?

Family always comes first. I love spending time with them no matter what we do - weekend beach days, going downtown or just having fun at home. I also love Crossfit, my dogs, sports, and vintage 1970s Toyota Landcruisers.

How are you involved with your community?

We are establishing our roots here in Charleston by being active with the school as our three girls are just in elementary. My wife, Victoria, while being active in the business, maintains a heavy presence within the schools, volunteering her time as 'class mom' and helping the teachers whenever she can. We plan on sponsoring youth sports teams and I want to get involved with charities through the local police departments.

Do you have any role models or key motivators in your life?

Anyone who overcomes adversity and reaches their goals motivates me. I love the underdog stories of people who accomplish their goal no matter how big or small. I like to read books about our great leaders and the founding fathers of our country to gain motivation and learn from them. Most importantly, my family motivates me.

What makes Charleston unique?

The Charleston area is growing like crazy and there is an interesting mix of true "Charlestonians" and transplants. It is both interesting to hear the stories from the folks who have been here for generations and to meet people from other parts of the country as well. The nature, wildlife and deep history makes Charleston a very interesting place. And the food is amazing!

Fun facts about you, or anything else you'd like to share?

I can do a mean front moonwalk but it only happens on special occasions!
